Enjoy Bagelwiches, Soup, and More at CJ's Bagels

You can find this week's Hot Spot at 127 North Ankeny Blvd in Ankeny.  Open Monday through Friday 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM and Saturday 6:30 AM to 2:00 PM, CJ's Bagels is a local favorite... so Haleigh and I went on a lunch date mission to find out why.

CJ's Bagels bakes 1,200 to 1,500 bagels a day... all from scratch!  Not just plain bagels either.  Those 1,200+ bagels come in over a dozen varieties: plain, sesame seed, poppy seed, asiago, cinnamon raisin, honey wheat, berry, onion, blueberry, chocolate chip, Italian, cinnamon apple, parmesan, cinnamon crunch, and the everything bagel (dipped in poppy seeds, sesame seeds, garlic, salt, and onion).

The menu doesn't stop there.  You can also order soups, sandwiches, salads, and sweets.  Pick from a wide variety of cold refreshments including fountain soda, frozen drinks, milk, juice, and smoothies.  If you're stopping by for breakfast or just need an extra boost in the afternoon, coffee and espresso are available.

For lunch, we ordered bagelwiches with chips and soup on the side.  My choice: A cup of chicken with wild rice soup and the Club Bagelwich, a combination of honey cured ham, choice roast beef, and oven roasted turkey breast.  I topped it off with lettuce, tomato, onion, and green peppers all on a honey wheat bagel.  Haleigh's choice: A cup of asiago bisque soup and the BLT Bagelwich, featuring hickory cured round bacon with lettuce and tomato.  And what's that in the middle, you wonder?  Well, we couldn't resist splitting one of CJ's huge cinnamon rolls.  (We also couldn't resist eating our dessert first!)  Verdict: Our lunches were filling and delicious!

Stomach growling?  Become a fan of CJ's Bagels on Facebook and be sure to check out the full menu on their website.  Oh, and did we mention you can order online?!  Let us know what delicious menu item you end up trying!
