Going Antiquing at The Brass Armadillo

The Brass Armadillo in Des Moines is a one-stop shop for all sorts of antiques, vintage items, and collectibles.  Located at 701 NE 50th Ave in Des Moines, it is easy to find on I-80/35 between the Second Avenue and East 14th Street exits.  The antique mall features over 450 antique and collectible dealers spread out in a 36,000-square-foot showroom.

We're highlighting The Brass Armadillo as a shopping Hot Spot because it's bursting with furniture, decor, and accessories perfect for styling your apartment.  And with Christmas right around the corner, you're likely to find unique gifts for everyone on your list.

Feeling overwhelmed by the size of the mall and the amount of items?  Don't be.  Upon entering the store, you'll be given a map of the joint so that you can find your way around.  (Plus, you can mark an item's locations if you want to come back to it later.)  Employees are also happy to hold your items at the front counter to free up your arms, baskets, and carts.

Being vintage-lovers ourselves, we couldn't help but do a little shopping of our own.  Here's the loot we scored during our excursion:

It was love at first sight when I laid eyes upon the green tackle/tool box.  Old tool boxes are perfect for organizing office/craft supplies, cosmetics, and jewelry.  (Not to mention the obvious: tools!)  Haleigh and I found lots of old cigar tins.  The tins are ideal for small-scale storage like pens, pencils, and office supplies... plus, they feature gorgeous colors, vintage graphics, and lots of character.  We also loaded up on blue mason jars and skeleton keys.

We'll be showing you what we did with our Brass Armadillo finds in future posts so stay tuned!

The Brass Armadillo has something for everyone.  So give them a "like" on Facebook and stop in to get your antique on.
