Q&A: What do I need to know about renewing?

Depending one which property you live in and when your current lease is up, the start of the new year may mean you need to start thinking about renewing.  There are several perks to renewing your current lease.  For one, it can benefit you financially since you won't need to come up with another security deposit for a new apartment and new lease elsewhere.  Another blessing is not having to move!  Moving out of one place and into another can be stressful, time-consuming, and costly.  On top of those reasons, our different properties have additional incentives for you to renew the lease and continue calling Haverkamp Properties your "home sweet apartment."

We checked in with our property managers in Cedar Rapids, Ames, Ankeny, and Des Moines to see what they had to say about renewing.

Question:

What do I need to know about renewing?

Aaron Hill, Kirkwood Living & Campus View Manager (Cedar Rapids)

John Peterman, Des Moines Area Manager

"In the Des Moines and Ankeny area, our office will typically provide you with a renewal invitation about 2 months prior to your lease and date. Within the renewal invitation packet there will be material pertaining to any current specials that we may be offering and other important information that we would like you to be aware of. Additionally, there is an enclosed form for you to fill out and return to us stating your plans for renewing! Be sure to read through all of the information provided for you. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your renewal invitation, be sure to contact the leasing office for more details.  If you decide that you will not be renewing your lease with us, the renewal invitation will serve as a reminder for you to provide us with your 30-day written notice. You are required to provide us with a full 30-days written notice prior to moving out. Remember, notices are not prorated so they must be received no later than the last day of the month preceding your last month of occupancy. You should have about a month from the time that you received the invitation to submit your notice to us! Keep in mind, if you have any specific questions regarding your renewal, do not hesitate to contact the leasing office for more information!"

Thanks to our expert property managers for their information and insight!  We hope you'll be renewing your lease with us and call Haverkamp Properties your "home sweet apartment" for another year!
