DIY Ceramic Mug Quotes

For today's daily dose of DIY we're doing personalized mug quotes.  I especially love this project because it's simple and can make a beautiful gift for almost any occasion.  Here's what you'll need for this project:
1 Mug (or many)
1 Sharpie Marker
OR Black Pebeo Porcelaine Pen in Fine Point - $4 at Michaels
Baking Oven
and of course Creativity

1. Purchase your mugs.  We recommend checking out Goodwill or Salvation Army first.  They will have a great selection of mugs in all shapes and sizes.  Best part is they usually run around 50 cents each! Be sure to wash off your mug before going any further.

2. Come up with a fun quote.  If you're giving it as a gift try an inside joke or something with meaning. You can always use your favorite literary quotes or song lyrics.  These are some of my favorite "mugable" quotes:

"Whatever our souls are made of...his and mine are the same."

- Wuthering Heights for those who aren't familiar
"You are my sunshine"
"To live would be an awfully big adventure"
"Do small things with great love"
"Keep calm and create"
"Life begins after coffee"

There are so so so many more but this gives you an idea.

3. Now it's time to create your personalized design, get creative and have fun! If you mess up be sure to wipe it off right away.  Porcelain pens aren't easy to master but do wipe off if caught early.

4. Once you're done, set the oven to 350 degrees and bake the mug for 30 minutes.  If you use a porcelain pen wait 24 hours for it to dry before you bake it.  We recommend that you hand wash these to keep them in prime condition.

Enjoy!
