DIY Rugs

Don't let summer boredom get you down.  Here are some great ideas for DIY rugs.  They brighten up your space and make great gifts.  DIY rugs are for people of all skill levels.   No matter how you decide to do it, your rug is sure to be a great accent piece for any room.
This rug is great because it's elegant and simple.  Find a table cloth you love or repurpose an old one that's laying around.

If you're familiar with how to make friendship bracelets than this will be a breeze.  In the tutorial they use the same technique to create this cute rug.

For those crochet fanatics out there who are tired of making hats and scarves, this makes a great project.  Find some thick chunky wool and crochet away!

I love the way these rugs look. It's the perfect use for old sheets and linens.

Get creative when coming up with a pattern for your rug.  This wood grain tutorial is exactly what your old door mat needs.

This isn't the softest rug, but the cool stones under your feet would be perfect in the summer.

Painted rugs can be the center piece of any room.  Give it some personality with bold colors and designs.

This tutorial shows you how to combine three smaller mats into a large conversation piece.  It wasn't made out of tons of small felt balls (but it could be!).

This is an oldie but a goodie. You always have tons of old t-shirts laying around so why not use them to create something new!

This is a fun way to use all of those corks you've been saving! Corks can also be found by the bag at most craft stores.  Who would have known they make such great mats.

Try adding cool geometric prints too your space.  All you need is paint, tape, and a rug!

This is a mesh of the pebble and felt rug.  You get the best of both worlds, cool and cozy.

This nautical themed rug gives off the perfect summer vibe. You can almost feel the ocean breeze.

Instead of hanging lights in your room try putting the lighting on the floor! Try this creative use of rope lights in your bedroom to add a warm glow.

This project is too adorable! Any craft store will have variety packs of poms.  Mix and match colors to add a bright pop of color to your room.

Braiding makes a quick and easy bath rug.  Recycle your old towels into the perfect bathroom mat.

This is one of my all time favorites! For fellow typography lovers this is perfect for studios or creative spaces.  You can inject your own style by changing up the typeface, wording and color.  This would be great to do in a monogram.
