With snow comes great opportunity for fun times! Here's some all-time classic activities you can enjoy out in the cold weather.
Who hasn't done this at least some point in their life? It's much better to sled down a snow covered hill, than the stairs in your house like Kevin from Home Alone.
2. Ice skating
All it takes is a little practice, and you can develop a keen sense of balance to help you skate along like a pro! There are a few places in central Iowa to check out for ice skating:
The Ames Ice Area - Public skating from 8:00pm-9:30pm Wednesdays, and 2:00pm-4:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays
Brenton Skating Plaza - Outdoor skating rink, public skating usually 12:00pm daily
Metro Ice Sports Facility - Public skating Tuesday & Thursday 12:00pm, Friday 7:00pm, Saturday and Sunday afternoons
The Ice Ridge - Public skating daily, open from 1:00pm-8:00pm Monday-Saturday, & 12:00pm-6:00pm Sunday
Cedar Rapids Ice Arena - Public skating daily, 1:00pm or 1:30pm
3. Build a snow man
Roll three huge snow balls, in varying sizes to stack. Then you can get creative and customize! Do you want your dude to wear a tuxedo, or maybe a flat bill cap? Go for it!
4. Make snow angels
You're never too old! Just lay down in the snow and move your ames and legs like you're doing a jumping jack.
